2009 Arnold Classic: The Women's Finals - FIGURE, BODYBUILDING, FITNESS

SEE 3 SUPERB CONTESTS IN ONE GREAT DVD!
Ms International, Figure International & Fitness International.

We present the COMPLETE FINALS for all three women’s classes - BODYBUILDING, FIGURE & FITNESS from the Veterans Memorial Auditorium in Columbus Ohio.

We shot amazing closeup footage from our key position in the front of the press pit, and edited this with the best footage from the 3 other cameras of Live Technologies. Every angle is covered making this the best, most comprehensive contest coverage we have offered.

The Finals DVD delivers all the exciting action from one of the world’s premiere women’s events. In the Fitness International contest, the sublimely athletic Jennifer Hendershott proved to be too strong for Julie Palmer and the rest of her opposition.

The gorgeous Figure International line-up was better than ever with Zivile Raudoniene winning for her first time at the Arnold Sports Festival from an outstanding runner-up in Gina Aliotti. Zivile is bound to be a serious threat at the Figure Olympia later this year.

In the Ms. International event, Debi Laszewski and Iris Kyle were the two main contenders in this class with Iris taking her 4th Arnold title at this event to now equal the record number of victories in the women’s bodybuilding competition. As usual, Californian Governor and the namesake of the event, Arnold Schwarzenegger, talked to the delighted winners on stage and added his legendary charm to this world class contest.

The 3 winners were as follows:

Iris Kyle - Ms International
Jennifer Hendershott – Fitness International
Zivile Raudoniene – Figure International

This classic muscle movie is one of the best shows we have ever covered. Do yourself a favor and add this one to your collection.

The Redondo Beach Performing Arts Center, Aviation Auditorium, on the corner of Aviation Blvd, and Manhattan Beach Blvd, was the site for the 1997 IFBB Ironman Pro Invitational. This was the 8th year for this event, and by far, the largest collection of athletes to battle it out for the championship. Twenty three athletes, from all over the world, were here in the first IFBB pro show of the year.

Pre-judging started at 12 o clock, but by 11, there were already 300 or so fans outside the doors waiting to get in. Backstage, there was nervousness, and intense concentration by the athletes, as they prepared themselves for the event.

During pre-judging, there were four parts. The first part introduced all of the athletes, half of them lining up first, and second half a couple of minutes later. The second part consisted of the first call outs, in which the judges compared athletes to each other, three at a time.

The third part consisted of each athlete come on stage and go through a routine, consisting of 7 poses. There were, in order, Front Double Bicep, Front Lat Spread, Side Chest, Rear Double Bicep, Rear Lat Spread, Side Tricep, and Abdominals & Thighs.

The fourth part brought out the final call outs of the pre-judging. This is where you could really see the differences between the top stars, and judge on who will win based on symmetry, muscle, and overall appearance. The call-outs were as follows, in order, three athletes being compared at a time.

Lee Priest - Flex Wheeler - Ron Coleman
Lee Priest - Aaron Baker - Ron Coleman
Paul Dillett - Aaron Baker - Flex Wheeler
Paul Dillett - Ron Coleman - Lee Priest
Ian Harrison - Bruce Patterson - Eddie Robinson
Henderson Thorne - Bruce Patterson - Patrick Lynn
Alq Gurley - Porter Cottrell - Patrick Lynn
Alq Gurley - Jeffrey Long - Patrick Lynn
Gunter Schlierkamp - Jeffrey Long - Roland Kickinger

Afterwards, the pre-judging came to an end, and the audience went home or to lunch to await the evening show. Backstage, the athletes were being tested for diuretics, which took over an hour and a half to get all of the athletes done, as paperwork and accuracy had to be done. Fortunately for the competitors, press, and backstage personnel, the only drinks that the Ironman show had was water and American Body Building's Ripped Force, Cutting Force, Carbo Light and Amino Powers. Quality above all!

The evening show started at 8 pm. There was a crowd of over 1,500 people on hand, including such notables like Chris Cormier, Shawn Ray, Mike Christian, Vince Gironda, Michio Grubbs, Craig Titus, Garret Downing, Mike Matarrazzo, and Jeff Poulin. The emcee even went as far as predicting that Chris Cormier will win the IFBB Night of Champions event in New York in May.

The evening presentations went as follows. The first part was introduction of all 23 competitors, second part was the routines of the athletes, complete with music and theatrics, and the final part was the selection of the top 10, narrowing down to the winner.

Porter Cottrell was disqualified for failure to appear at award presentation, which he would of placed tenth, while Jerry Rodger was disqualified for failure to take the drug test, According to Porter, he did not hear to judge announced his name and went to the dressing room to change. Four athletes were disqualified for testing positive in the drug test. They were Alq Gurley, B.J. Johns, Gunter Schlierkamp, and Max Shamaya.

It was a hard fought battle, and the only major audience clashing with the judges was that Aaron Baker should of placed third instead of fourth over Ronnie Coleman. The biggest suspense of the night was the final moment between Lee Priest and Flex Wheeler. Would Wheeler win the third Ironman in a row or lose to a 217 pound 5 foot 3 inch, completely muscular Lee Priest? We now know the answer!

This contest was tested for diuretics, clenbuterol and cocaine. Four athletes came out positive. They were Alq Gurley, B.J. Johns, Gunter Schlierkamp, and Max Shamaya.

Special mentions (opinions by Ron Avidan) goes out to these athletes:
Nicest Competitor went to Flex Wheeler, for bowing to the audience each time as he finished posing in all rounds.

Nicest Backstage Competitor went to Roland Kickinger, for being gracious and kind to everyone, even under pressure.

Best Routine went to D.J. Johns from New Zealand, whose routine had the audience captivated and received the biggest applause. Eddie Robinson also gets a mention here for an innovative routine.

Best Music went to Porter Cottrell, for his specially made music about his lifestyle as a fireman, including a line mentioning 'Hey Porter, where's the fire'. Music from the movie 'The Rock' gets special mention for it was used more than once.

Most interesting posing suit goes to Aaron Baker, for pulling his suit as high as he could, thus so the audience can see his glutes more than they should.

Most inspirational went to Mohammed El Makkaway, who has not competed in 12 years, and was celebrating his 22nd wedding anniversary that night.

Most Flexible: went to Patrick Lynn, and Flex Wheeler, for doing the splits on stage, evoking oohs and ouches from the audience.

Report courtesy of Ron Avidan, getbig.com Thanks Ron for a wonderful summary of this show.

Mr. Olympia - The Golden Years: 1971, 1974, 1975, 1979

In this historic Olympia DVD presentation, we have gathered together our rare and mostly previously unseen Olympia segments that were shot on super 8 film in the Golden 70s. As each segment seemed too short to release at the time, nothing happened till we obtained the wonderful and fantastic quality 20 minute film from the 1979 Mr. Olympia. This shows Frank Zane in his all time best condition defeating Mike Mentzer to win the Overall 1979 Mr. Olympia crown in Columbus Ohio.

These are not complete Olympias but consists of the only known footage shot on film at these famous contests. All of the 3 1979 contests are exceptional quality.

1971 Olympia footage from Paris is short but extremely rare and does include the 2 guest posers Sergio and Franco.

In 1974 see the titanc battle between old rivals Arnold and Lou Ferrigno with Arnold coming out on top.

In 1975 in South Africa it was Arnold once again over Serge Nubret with Franco taking out the lighter class.Arnold retired after this contest.

1979 it was back in Columbus where Frank Zane took the overall title from Heavyweight Class winner Mike Mentzer. Cameraman Joel Fletcher concentrated in particular on Frank Zane in this contest. It is an absolute feast of posing for Zane fans and an ideal way to study the master posing style of Fank Zane - the master poser.

Some of this old film footage has had the colour deteriorate with time. However the bodies we show portray priceless images of our past great champions of the sport. This is a Legends of the Olympias of the 70s DVD. Shot on super 8 film and digitally transferred to DVD with copyright free music added.

Running order of each segment seen in this DVD:

1979 Mr Olympia 20 mins

1975 Mr Olympia 13 mins

1974 Mr Olympia Prejudging 3.5 mins

1974 Mr Olympia Finals 14 mins

1971 Mr Olympia - Sergio Oliva guest posing 1 min

1979 World Amateur Championships 20 mins

All 1979 footage shot by Joel Fletcher and licensed to PCB. All other footage courtesy Sean Gallasch.

The UK has a rich history in bodybuilding, dating back to the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Physical culture gained popularity through figures like Eugen Sandow, who organized the first modern bodybuilding contest in 1901 at London's Royal Albert Hall. This event, known as The Great Competition, attracted 15,000 spectators and marked the beginning of organized bodybuilding competitions in the UK.

Development of Bodybuilding Organizations
In 1950, the National Amateur Body-Builders' Association (NABBA) was founded to promote bodybuilding in the UK and internationally. Modern Era and Major Competitions
Today, the UK continues to host major bodybuilding events, including the NABBA Universe Championships and the World Natural Bodybuilding Federation (WNBF) UK events. These competitions emphasize natural bodybuilding with stringent testing. The Titan Show is a key event in the UK bodybuilding calendar, showcasing top athletes and promoting the sport’s growth and popularity.

Notable Figures and Contributions
Influential bodybuilders like Arnold Schwarzenegger have helped popularize bodybuilding globally, with events like the Arnold Classic further elevating the sport's profile. British bodybuilders and promoters have consistently contributed to the sport’s development, ensuring the UK remains a vital player in the global bodybuilding community.

Cultural Impact and Legacy
Bodybuilding in the UK has evolved from a niche interest to a widely recognized sport. Events like the Titan Show highlight the dedication and achievements of athletes, reflecting the sport’s enduring appeal and significance. The UK’s bodybuilding history is marked by a commitment to physical excellence and the promotion of health and fitness. These historical insights into the UK Bodybuilding Titan Show underscore the event's importance and its role in the broader context of bodybuilding history.

Unsolicited Testimonial:
One word to describe your Zane DVD: EXCELLENT!
Love the “never before seen” footage, included. With the bombardment of "Mass Monsters" these days, it’s refreshing to see a beautiful physique... that seems... attainable?

ROB MELLO - Cut to Perfection

Rob Mello was the 1993 NPC Nationals champion in the Middleweight Class, narrowly losing the overall title to Mike Francois. Rob was an outstanding amateur athlete in the 90s, gaining his pro card and making a significant mark on the pro scene.

In this DVD you will see all of the video recorded on Rob throughout his stellar career. He was rated as one of America’s best young bodybuilders in the early 90s with a flawless physique, notable for amazing symmetry and muscularity. See his gym workout in this condition in 1991.

You again see a shredded Rob in 1993 when he wins the NPC Nationals, showing his perfectly balanced physique and incredible abdominal development. Rob had a degree of separation rarely seen today. He would have been a star of the 202 Class if it had existed back then!

1983 IFBB World Championships (Mr. Universe) - The Show

1983 IFBB Amateur World Championships - The Show

This was a sensational Men's World Championships, held outdoors in a huge amphitheatre in central Singapore. I took a group of enthusiastic Adelaide bodybuilding fans to this contest as tour leader. It was an experience of a life time for all of us.

In the heavyweight class it was a battle of the giants between a young, ripped and superb Berry DeMey, a mature and sensational Bob Paris and a huge Ralf Moeller of Germany who ended up in third place. Ralf literally dwarfed the others during the posedown. I do not know how close it was on the judges' sheets but in my mind it was a toss up and could have gone either way between the top two.

Chuck Williams and Charles Glass, both from USA proved to be very strong and convincing winners of their respective classes as was Appie Steenbeek from Holland and Herman Hoffend from West Germany.

Christian Janatsch, 4th place heavyweights, made a strong showing and was there with his girlfriend Rachel McLish, Ms Olympia. Rachel guest posed and her routine is included in this Finals Show DVD.

After the contest was over, I approached the 3 USA class winners, Paris, Williams and Glass to arrange video and photo shoots next day at our hotel poolside. Sadly Bob Paris declined but Glass and Williams more than made up for it, turning on a sensational display of hard, ripped 100% in condition muscle for my cameras. To see this shoot which is now PCB-005DVD, please click here.

This evening show DVD brings you all of the highlights from the show, all the posedowns and all the awards. 93 minutes of the best amateur IFBB bodybuilders in the world! Many of these great bodybuilders now belong to the Golden Era of bodybuilding.

The Prejudging from this contest can be seen on PCB-265DVD. Please click here.

Ron TeufelL and Suemitsu - Platinum Edition

RON TEUFEL was filmed on the Santa Monica beach, in California, back in July 1977. He was just out of his teens. It was a beautiful sunny day and Ron was in superb shape having recently competed in the AAU Mr. America. He stands 5'6" tall and weighs 190 lbs of solid muscle.

Ron was a Mr. USA and Teen Mr. America and one of the best built shorter men that I have ever worked with.

Most notable were his incredible abs, rock hard physique which appeared to be hewn out of granite and his excellent arms. Photos I took of Ron made the covers of Iron Man magazine in November 1977 and May 1979, and Muscular Development in December 1978. Ron sadly passed away in December 2002. Highlights of Ron's career included the following:

1975 TEEN AMERICA (AAU)
1975 TEEN MR. USA / 1ST SHORT CLASS (AAU)
1977 MR. AMERICA / 1ST SHORT CLASS (AAU)
1978 MR. CALIFORNIA (AAU)
1978 MR. USA OVERALL WINNER (AAU)
1979 MR. AMERICA / 1ST SHORT CLASS (AAU)
1980 IFBB MR. INTERNATIONAL / 2ND LIGHT HEAVY WEIGHTS
1981 IFBB WASHINGTON GRAND PRIX / 5TH PLACE
1982 IFBB NIGHT OF CHAMPIONS / 7TH PLACE

In this DVD RON is 20 years old. He was Teenage Mr. America and had become Short Class Mr. America the day before filming took place. He also won the best abs title, and placed in every body part sub division of the contest.

This segment runs for 27mins.

SUEMITSU is awesome! A combination of Padilla and Columbu with the grace and skill of Zane!! An incredible mass of muscle. The finest physique of his day in all of Asia. SUEMITSU was MR. JAPAN, MR. ASIA, MR. UNIVERSE SHORT CLASS and PROFESSIONAL MR. JAPAN. One of the leading Asian physiques of the 70’s, this was filmed when SUEMITSU was at the peak of his perfection.
He is still venerated in JAPAN today as one of the ALL-TIME greats of bodybuilding.

(Please note that Suemitsu is also often referred to as Ken-Ichi Suemitsu or simply Ken Ichi Suemitsu.)

Raising the Bar #3: The Final Chapter

Raising the Bar #3: The Final Chapter of a life in bodybuilding

This DVD is the final part of the trilogy revealing how bodybuilding affects not only how you look, but its effect on personal relationships, and much more. This award winning series traces the life and career of top bodybuilder Dave Pulcinella as he fights his way through the ranks of amateur bodybuilding, following his dream in search of a Pro card.

This compelling Raising the Bar series is more than just gym training, or showing endless sets and reps. The RTB series is much more than a run of the mill training DVD. Of course there is some inspirational gym footage, with blood, sweat and tears. There is also much more as this DVD explores the heart and soul of a top bodybuilding competitor. It takes you where no DVD usually ventures to tread. It explores the stresses and strain - and pain that a top bodybuilder feels, and how it affects the lives of those who are close to him. Especially his struggling relationships with his beautiful girlfriend, top figure competitor, Jenn Emig.

RTB#3 takes you behind the scenes at the 2007 IFBB North American Championships and beyond, as Dave Pulcinella makes his final run at winning a Pro card. Few can match Dave's life-long dedication to the sport of bodybuilding. In particular you get a better understanding on why bodybuilding one of the most misunderstood sports in the world.

Dave has spent a lifetime in this sport, and in this candid documentary he has much to say about food, nutrition, backstage psychology, the bodybuilder's mindset, turning pain into pleasure, making and obtaining goals and much more. This is all told in his own inimitable style.

This final DVD is much more than just a selfish dream - a push for glory and a Pro card. It is also about relationships, how they grow, they strain, they fracture. We watch as Dave Pulcinella helps young male and female bodybuilders prepare to compete in bodybuilding and figure competitions, as he "passes the torch" to the next generation. There is a lot of good bodybuilding info in this DVD as well and some amazing and inspiring workout sequences.

For those of you who were surprised and enthralled by the delightful, poignant story so far from RTB #1 and #2, this is the final piece of the puzzle regarding Dave's hard fought journey. RTB#3 is beautifully told, with the DVD superbly produced by his brother Mike of Mike Pulcinella Video productions. It was a tough journey started back in 2004 and in DVD #3 we follow Dave Pulcinella as he gives his all in a last ditch roll of the dice for his Pro card. Will he succeed and will he fix his rocky relationships with Jenn. You will need to check out this DVD to find out! It deserves to be seen by every serious bodybuilder.

Raising The Bar - The inside story of a life in Bodybuilding

On June 21, 2003 David Pulcinella ended a 7 year, self-imposed retirement from his beloved sport of bodybuilding and decisively won both the N.P.C. Delaware State and East Coast titles. He was not content to stop there. Dave decided, on the eve of his 40th birthday, to attempt to become the "King of Delaware" two years in a row.

This ground-breaking documentary follows Dave and several other male and female bodybuilders and figure competitors during the 20 grueling weeks leading up to the contest. The result is a chronicle of lives lived in pursuit of perfection and of the relentless preparation and determination necessary to make it in this most misunderstood of sports.

Shocking, disturbing, moving and sometimes hilarious, you will get an inside look into an extreme lifestyle that few attempt...

...and still fewer achieve.

Markus Ruhl - Big and Loving It

NTSC with English/German language.

“Big and loving it” continues in the cinematic style of “Ruhl Made in Germany” and shows the insanely freaky physique, the great sense of humour as well as the very intimate and emotional moments in the life of IFBB Pro Bodybuilder Markus Rühl. Become a witness, as Markus lives through the highs and lows of the professional bodybuilding business, and blasts his way back as an elite athlete at the top of his field in the sport of Pro bodybuilding.

NEWS FROM GERMANY, January, 2008 from the DVD's Producer.

"Good news Sean. The Rühl English NTSC DVD is finished! I am so glad about this. This has been the most complex and difficult project in my life.

I will now send you copies in NTSC by express delivery for your customers who are still waiting, or who have only received the PAL German version. My most sincere apologies for this unavoidable delay. Timo".

Timo, it is an incredible, sensational DVD of quality never ever seen before in bodybuilding documentaries!!! You are a master craftsman at what you do. My hearty congratulations on a great work of art.

This has been worth waiting for. Sean

"Big and Loving It" is completely different from everything else before it. No other bodybuilding production can compare. Never before has a documentary from the professional sport of bodybuilding captured such contrasts between “drama” and “comedy” - high-quality information and the most absurd jokes - all at the same time.

With a production time of over three years, the documentary captures the most intimate portrait ever of a professional physique athlete. It must be seen to appreciate the scope of the project. The DVD contains more than 200 minutes of amazing material, which shows the main film in three different versions: “Normal version” (the version favoured by production), “Rühl special version” (completely uncensored) and the “extended training version”.

Shawn Ray competed in three different decades before retiring at age 36 in 2001. Danny Padilla Building Mr Universe: Abdominals

Danny was famous for his awesome abs - in this video he shares his secrets for building the best abs possible.

-------------------

Danny Padilla Bio:

Danny "The Giant Killer" Padilla: A Bodybuilding Titan in a Compact Package. This guy was a walking contradiction that shook the bodybuilding world to its core.

The Underdog's Rise
Born in 1951 in Rochester, New York, Padilla was the runt of the litter in a family of 11 kids. But don't let that fool you. This 5'2" powerhouse started pumping iron at 13 and never looked back.

The Giant Killer's Arsenal
Genetic Jackpot: Padilla hit the genetic lottery with perfect proportions. When he lifted, his muscles grew evenly, making him look massive despite his height. Relentless Drive: After getting beaten very badly in his early AAU competitions, He switched to the IFBB and became an unstoppable force.

The Climb to the Top
Padilla's career was a masterclass in persistence:

1975: Claimed the Mr. USA title
1977: Double whammy - Mr. America and Mr. Universe
1981: Peaked at the Mr. Olympia, securing 5th place

The Secret Sauce
What set Padilla apart? Balance. In a world of freaky body parts, Padilla's physique was a symphony of proportion. His arms and calves weren't just big; they were perfectly in sync with his entire body.

The Comeback King
Think Padilla was done? Think again. At 40, he stormed back into the game, snagging 3rd at the 1991 Night of Champions.

The Padilla Principle
Here's the kicker: Padilla didn't just train for titles. He trained because he loved it. That's the secret sauce right there. Passion trumps everything else. Danny Padilla wasn't just a bodybuilder. He was a testament to what happens when you combine genetic gifts with relentless drive and a genuine love for the iron game.
