Gianluca Catapano: THE ITALIAN PHOENIX...RAISED FROM THE ASHES

Training – Posing – Adversity – Triumph!

As far as we know, this is the first ever training DVD by an Italian Pro Bodybuilder. See 90 minutes of hardcore, gut-busting training along with amazing posing and a highly emotional personal story of triumph over adversity. Plus images from Gianluca’s daily life as a bodybuilder on the rise.

Catapano’s passion for bodybuilding began when he was 14 when he saw the Arnold movie COMMANDO. He felt inspired to become a bodybuilder at all costs. Starting out at a very weak 128 lbs (58kg) at a height of 5’9” (173cms) and health problems, the road ahead looked long and hard. With much passion and hard work Gianluca has brought his weight up to 256 lbs (116kg) off season. Now 31, he also consults and trains other people in his highly successful business.

His greatest moments: Placing first at the European Championships and first at the Mr. Universe followed by his first time on the IFBB Pro stage.

At the age of 24 he was one of the youngest men in Europe to gain his Pro card. In this DVD you will witness Gianluca in action as he returns to his former glory after battling the biggest challenge of his life. This is his story...

In 2002 doctors told him that he had “ulcerative colitis”, a genetic disease which had affected his entire colon. Because the risk of cancer was so great, the doctors recommended that his entire colon be removed. The primary surgery went smoothly, he had massive internal bleeding post operatively. The bleeding was so extensive that an emergency surgery was required followed by 3 days in intensive care. The blood loss was so great, the doctors did not expect Gianluca to survive.

But he did survive! When released from hospital, life and then training gradually got back to normal. However it was not yet all over and soon the nightmare continued. In 2003 he perforated a part of his remaining intestine with the sharp end of a watermelon seed that had accidentally been swallowed. This resulted in severe case of septicaemia. Once again Gianluca’s life was in danger and he remained in hospital for 53 days and had another 2 major life-saving operations!

The doctors and medical staff were not sure if his body could stand all this massive stress yet again. This was the greatest challenge Catapano had ever faced in his whole life. He felt that as he had survived once against all odds and he was sure he could pull through again. No matter how hard the battle, Gianluca always felt he could succeed by challenging it head on. In total he has cheated death 4 times with his indomitable spirit of never giving up, and his enormous will to succeed. Hence the title of this amazing 90 minute DVD “THE ITALIAN PHOENIX...RAISED FROM THE ASHES”.

Kevin Levrone / Maryland Muscle Machine : M3

This classic feature was originally released on VHS in September, 2002. Kevin was one of the all time greats in pro bodybuilding winning probably more GPs than any other bodybuilder. He will go down in history as the uncrowned Mr Olympia.

Jay Cutler – A Cut Above

This is another all time classic Okabe DVD, originally released on VHS January 11th, 2002.

1992 EFBB British Championships: The Show

Each year the EFBB British Championships determines which two bodybuilders will join the professional ranks. Tensions run very high indeed! 1992 was no exception with one of the most controversial decisions ever - judging by the "boos" when each place was called out in Heavyweight Class (Over 90kg).

When it got to fourth place we witnessed one of the most disgraceful exhibitions of bad sportsmanship we have ever seen, when MICK THEO, not content with his fourth place, walked over to the girl holding the enormous first place trophy, grabbed it off her and hurled it to the floor! We read that he was suspended for two years.

First place getter, and new Professional, JAY DEE DOWADU (see front cover photo) was outstanding, and fully deserved his brilliant win! When J.D. was announced winner of his class, the stage was over run with his supporters, with as many as 30 fans swamping the triumphant (but bewildered) bodybuilder. However, he didn't have it all his own way in the Overall posedown, as he was pushed to the limit by NABBA Universe and Mr. World Class winner, ROBERT WALL.

JD Dawodu went on to have quite a successful pro career. He was always noted for his magificent arms. (See PCB-154DVD The Prejudging)

1990 NABBA World Championships: Amateur & Professional Men - The Show

This full colour DVD includes the complete Professional event, including the Pro Prejudging. It features Charles Clairmonte, Samir Bannout (yes THE 1983 Mr. Olympia Samir Bannout), and Gary Lewer, 1989 Overall Mr. World. To the best of our knowledge, this was the only time that Samir competed with NABBA. It was an historic and stellar event in every possible way.

See all the posing routines from all of the competitors, plus posedowns and awards in this 100 minutes of outstanding World Championships bodybuilding in Australia. Both Terry Mitsos and Charles Clairmonte were most outstanding winners. It truly was a battle of champions "down under".

1988 NABBA Australian Championships: The Women - Prejudging & Show

Leisa Campbell was the star guest poser and was in incredible condition, going on to win the NABBA Universe just one week later with straight firsts from every judge. Her routine and leopard skin outfit were designed to excite and complement her unbelievable physique. She is one of the all time greats of Australian Women's Bodybuilding.

The Physique Class was won by Kim Knott and the Figure Class was won by Jeanette Harper. In this DVD you will see the complete women's section of this national championships with the complete women's prejudging and evening show. HEIKE JUNG & LEISA CAMPBELL - THE YOUNG AMAZONS

Leisa Campbell is a 1988 NABBA Miss Universe and Miss World winner, from Australia. We show her posing in different costumes both outdoors in Spain 1989 and on stage as she wins the World Championships the next day.

Leisa has won just about every title available to her. From Miss Australia to Miss Universe to Miss World in the physique class. Her powerful and ripped arms and legs wow the crowds whenever she struts her stuff on the world stage. The outdoor sequence shot poolside in Spain shows her exotic outfits and superb physique to perfection.

Heike Jung is an up-and-coming female physique star in Germany. Age 21, Heike works out in the gym and flexes and poses between sets. A champion in the making, she is muscular and ripped. This segment is approximately 40 minutes.

Heike is typical of the new breed of physique women in Germany. Hard as a rock, short haired and with a pierced navel. She is certainly going places!

2001 IFBB IRONMAN PRO INVITATIONAL PUMP ROOM

This prestigious event was held in the superb Redondo Beach Performing Arts Centre in front of a sell-out crowd. John Balik's Iron Man Pro Show kicked off the 2001 season with 24 fantastic competitors.

King Kamali said he would come into his first pro contest big and strong, and strong he did, scaring even the toughest around. However in the end, Chris Cormier repeated as champion of the first pro show of the year.

We film every Iron Man event with 2 broadcast cameras.

You will see pump room highlights from both our cameras. This is how the judges get to see and analyse each competitor's strengths and weaknesses.

Next the side stage front camera takes over showing superb CLOSEUP posing routines from the top 5 competitors, namely, CORMIER, ANTHONY, KAMALI, DAWODU and TITUS.
