Shawn Ray competed in three different decades before retiring at age 36 in 2001. Although one of the most frequent competitors in the Mr. Olympia show, the winner's title eluded him for his entire career. Ray was a top 5 Mr. Olympia finalist for 12 consecutive years. A feat no other bodybuilder has duplicated.

In his entire career Shawn Ray beat every competitor he met on stage at least once, with the exception of 8-time Mr. Olympia Lee Haney and 6-time Mr. Olympia, Dorian Yates.

2018 Arnold Amateur NPC Men's Bodybuilding & Classic Physique #2

MIKHAIL VOLINKIN WINS OVERALL MEN'S BODYBUILDING TITLE!

Mikhail Volinkin of Uzbekistan won the overall Men's Bodybuilding title as more than 600 of the top amateur competitors from around the world competed in 10 divisions at the 12th Annual Arnold Amateur NPC International Championships.

The events were held at the Battelle Grand and the Greater Columbus Convention Center March 1-4, 2018 as a part of the Arnold Sports Festival.

Classic Collection # 4

This latest DVD in our Classic Collection series features the stars of the seventies in our priceless collection of the greatest names of the period. Kal Szkalak, Lee Haney as a Teenager, Sergio Oliva, Frank Zane versus Boyer Coe at the NABBA Universe, Bill Grant and many more. There is very little footage of Kal Szkalak available making this DVD a rare treat for Szkalak fans.

Seeing Lee Haney as a teenager reminds you of the enormous promise and potential he had back then which enabled him to later set the record (now shared by Ronnie Coleman), for the most Mr Olympia victories at 8.

Most of this rare film footage was shot by Wayne Gallasch in the early to mid 70s. In some instances it is the only known film of some of these stars. Background music added.

The 2013 IFBB Arnold Classic & Arnold Sports Festival are Presented by Classic Productions.
Celebrating the 25th Anniversary of the Arnold Classic.

The Arnold Strongman Classic was part of the 2013 Arnold Sports Festival and the 25th Anniversary Arnold Classic. The first 4 events took place on Friday, March 1st at the Fitness Expo at the Greater Columbus Convention Center. The final event was staged at the Arnold Classic Finals on Saturday night at the Veterans Memorial Auditorium, Columbus, Ohio.

Enjoy the complete coverage of this incredible display of skill and strength from Days 1 and 2. This DVD covers every moment of each of the 5 events. You will see the world’s greatest Strongmen in action as they pit their skills against each other in these unique challenges of strength, power, stamina and determination. The events are designed to test brute strength and determine which competitor is the strongest man!

New world records were set, and the exciting final event, the Circus Dumbbell Lift, was held on the Veterans stage in front of thousands of fans. The first time winner, VYTAUTAS LALAS of Lithuania was presented his award by Arnold Schwarzenegger. (See photo below of Lalas)

Description of Events

Manhood Stones

Contestants lift round stones weighing up to approximately 550 lbs pounds.
All men try to lift the stone over a bar no higher than 125 cm or 49" (same for both stones), as often as possible in 60 seconds.
The Stones weighed 454 lbs (206 kilos) and 540 lbs (245 kilos).

The Austrian Oak - Small Log Lift

From the Floor to Arms’ Length Overhead, two different logs are used.
The “Small” log weighs between 374 pounds (170 kg) and 385 pounds (175 kg).
The “Large” log weighs between 441 pounds (200 kg) and 452 pounds. The challenge to the athletes is to take the log from the platform and lift it to arms’ length overhead for as many repetitions as possible in 90 seconds.

The Tire Deadlift

This is a brute strength left for Maximum Weight.
The tires on a new Hummer weigh approximately 100 pounds (45 kg) each, and the lightest weight available in this event was a little over 600 pounds (270 kg). By adding barbell plates and additional tires, the weight of the bar was increased in increments of between ten and twenty pounds (five and ten kg) so that the competitors can take whatever they want as the weight on the bar goes up. Each man will have three attempts, and we will use the "round" system, in which the lightest first attempt will be done first, followed by the next heaviest, and so on.

The Circus Dumbbell

This year this brute of a dumbbell weighed 264 Pounds!
Competitors will have 1.5 minutes (90 seconds) from the time their name is announced and the whistle has blown to lift the Bell from the floor to overhead, as many repetitions as possible.
The dumbbell has a very big handle 3 inches in diameter. The men may only use one hand at a time to actually lift the dumbbell overhead, as many times as possible in 90 sec. As this was a new heavier DB, the winning total of 5 repetitions was a new WR in this lift, set by Vytautas Lalas.

SONIA LEWIS WINS OVERALL BIKINI TITLE!

Sonia Lewis of USA won the overall BIKINI title as more than 600 of the top amateur competitors from around the world competed in 10 divisions at the 12th Annual Arnold Amateur NPC International Championships.

"Athletes represented more than 60 different countries this year making it one of the biggest international events of its kind,” said Bob Lorimer, President of Classic Productions Inc.

We have added around two and a half hours of NEW MATERIAL to present all of the life time footage that we could find featuring the fabulous career of 6 time Mr Olympia, DORIAN YATES. Much of this was shot by us during Dorian's career and includes our last interview with him in 2002 at the Olympia Expo.

The contest footage covers his career from his first British victory in 1986, to his Olympia appearances (thanks to the generosity of Andy Olson of Magna Media) to many of his Grand Prix victories to guest posing and more.

Not to be missed are the 25 minutes of wonderful, interesting and funny out- takes, thanks to Mark Dugdale and cameraman Joel Barham, from their shooting with Dorian recently at the Temple Gym in Birmingham. This footage was shot whilst filming Mark's latest DVD "A week in the Dungeon", available from Mark Dugdale as well as from GMV.

After we scoured our video archive for most this new material we then went back through our photo files from all the contests that we or our photographers have covered during Dorian's career. This has turned up a number of fabulous, previously unseen photos which have been scanned and added to the huge PHOTO GALLERY. It now contains around 150 photos covering every aspect of Dorian's career from training in the gym to the stage to private and informal shots. Our thanks to Dorian, Lee Dickens and all who contributed photos. DORIAN YATES BRIEF BIO:

Born in Hurley, Staffordshire, near Birmingham, England, Dorian Yates commenced working out in 1983. The man dubbed “The Shadow” (by FLEX Editor-in-Chief Peter McGough) shone a new light of awareness onto training methods with his brief but very high-intensity workouts. After some important victories in England – 1985 Novice Championships and 1986 and 1988 British Championships – Yates visited New York for the 1990 Night of Champions and, in his pro debut, he took second place to Mohamed Benaziza. He vowed that next year he would return to win this contest. He did!

In 1991, Yates was the runner-up at the Olympia to Lee Haney, who won his eighth record-setting Olympia and then retired. From 1992 through 1997, Yates dominated the sport’s highest title with 6 Sandows in a row. In 1994, he overcame a torn biceps to win the crown. In 1997, his most valiant victory came when he tore a triceps three weeks prior to the contest, but still battled on to victory. Due to the injury, Yates was forced to retire at the peak of his career, with a pro record of 15 wins and two second-place finishes. Being a six-time Mr Olympia should say it all, especially when you consider the freakiness with which he redefined all the parameters of bodybuilding. He is truly a legend of the sport and to many people, the greatest bodybuilder of all time!

Dorian still runs his famous Temple Gym in Birmingham and also now has his own line of supplements.
